“I was shot 5 times. And all the bullets hit the target – me”: a heartbreaking photo shoot of a husky shelter

All the quarters of the refuge have a very sad fate.

The problem of homeless animals is very acute in Russia. There is a stereotype that only purebred dogs and cats are abandoned. In fact, pets with a rich pedigree can also face betrayal.

So, in Novosibirsk there is a shelter to help huskies and other purebred dogs. Its owners organized a photo session to publicly show what injustice the animals face – betrayal, deception, aggression. During the filming, each quadruped hung on the withers a sign describing the story of its life.

“All the stories are real. The dogs are purebred. Under our care there are mostly huskies, but there is even an akita. People get them without thinking, then get rid of them. An Akita puppy, for example, was given to a child, and it’s unclear what happened to him. The dog had a fractured skull and due to the injury half of the brain is missing,” said Yana Bolsunovskaya, head of the Sled Dog Assistance Group.

The story of husky Ayla was no less dramatic. She was kicked out of 11 families, after which the dog ended up in a shelter. Five bullets were fired at another handsome man named Chemal, but the dog was able to survive and recover.

A photo session of stray dogs caused a stir on the Web. Thanks to this action, it was possible to find owners for four dogs at once. In addition, many caring people wanted to give financial support to the shelter.

A total of 15 dogs are under the supervision of the organization. In addition, representatives of the shelter help to search for animals in difficulty. Over years of active work, volunteers have saved dozens of dogs and are not going to stop there.
