Sputnik V developers hope to certify jab with WHO by end of November – world

The Gamaleya Center hopes that the Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus developed there will be certified by the World Health Organization (WHO) by the end of November, responsible for the laboratory of the mechanisms of variability of populations of pathogenic microorganisms of the Gamaleya National Epidemiology Research Center. and Microbiology Vladimir Gushchin during an expert discussion on the prospects for combating the pandemic in Novosibirsk.

“[Our] RDIF colleagues who are in charge of the international agenda are working quite actively on it. I think it will be decided in the near future. We were hoping it would happen in September, but now we realize that it will be in the coming months – October-November, ”he said.

According to the latest global statistics, around 235.5 million people have been infected worldwide and over 4.8 million deaths have been reported. To date, 7,637,427 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Russia, with 6,759,059 patients recovered from the disease. The latest data from Russia shows 211,696 deaths nationwide. Previously, the Russian government had set up an internet hotline to keep the public up to date on the coronavirus situation.
